Sixth Grader Showing Business Savvy Beyond His Years

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) – Ethan Hirschbein is like any other 11 year old, and those who know him know he won't go anywhere without his snapback hat.

"Ethan constantly has a hat on. And, of course, when friends come over we see them with hats," said Dave Hirschbein, Ethan's father.

So, for a school community service project, it just made sense for Ethan to create his own company: Trinity Lids.

"It says 'MMA Gold' on it because that's my dad's company," Ethan said.

"Trinity" comes from Ethan's favorite character in "The Matrix," and "Lids" because "it's a cool word the kids are using today," Dave said.

The sixth grader CEO isn't in it for a quick buck, however. All of the proceeds are going to the Leukemia & Lymphoma society, in honor of a former classmate's sibling who passed away.

"Getting involved makes me feel better, so if anybody has a family member that has leukemia they have a chance," Ethan said.

Ethan seems to have inherited his business savvy after watching his father, owner and CEO of the MMA Gold Fight Team.

"I think he's just naturally picked up on things and from there he's able to create a lot of these concepts on his own," Dave said.

"I designed it and we gave it to my dad's logo guy," Ethan said.

MMA fighters are now wearing the hats – which is already generating a buzz. A week into the launch, Ethan is 10 percent to his $5,000 goal.

"I think there's something very special with him when it comes to business," Dave said.

The hats cost $25. If you're interested in buying one, head to http://mmagold.com/.
