Man Found In Freezer Identified; Police Asking Family To Come Forward

CERES (CBS13) – Investigators are asking the family of a man whose body was found in a freezer to come forward.

The Ceres Police Department identified the man found in an auto shop freezer back on April 14 as 49-year-old Thomas Joseph Cervantes. Police say he also went by the name Thomas Joseph Kroger.

Police ask that family members, people who knew him or potential witnesses to the incident that left Thomas dead to contact detectives.

Thomas was a resident of Modesto and had lived in the San Francisco area and Oklahoma, police say.

Authorities have arrested 26-year-old Jacob Medina Cervantes in connection to Thomas' murder. Jacob (who has no reported relation to Thomas) was the owner of The Shop Customs – the auto shop where Thomas' body was found.

Anyone who knew Thomas is asked to call Detective Derek Perry at (209) 538-5730.
