ROCHESTER, NEW YORK (CBS13) — The Sacramento Republic scored its first win outside of the state of California as the team snapped the Rochester Rhinos seven-game unbeaten streak on Friday.

Thomas Stewart struck home the lone goal in 74th minute to give the Republic (5-3-1, 16 points) a 1-0 win, and the team’s third in a row. The win pushes the first-year team into fourth place in the 14-team league.

The Rhinos (3-2-4, 13 points) hadn’t lost a match since dropping their home opener.

Next up for the Republic is another road match against the Dayton Dutch Lions (2-4-2, 8 points) in Ohio on Sunday.

The team’s next home match is on June 7  at Hughes Stadium against the Arizona United SC. It will be the team’s final game before moving to Bonney Field, its new home at Cal Expo.

The team is also hosting a US Open Cup matchup against the Fresno Fuego on May 28 at 7:30 p.m.
