Investigators: Drugs May Be Behind Apparent Murder-Suicide At Natomas Apartment

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Investigators say drugs may be at the heart of an apparent murder-suicide in a Natomas apartment on Wednesday.

Neighbors came home to find their home taped off as Sacramento Police were inside the unit across from them where the body of a man they'd just seen alive hours before.

"Every morning we get up we wave at each other we talk to each other," Pam said.

Inside the apartment, investigators say they found two men shot dead. They responded to the unit after several callers told 911 dispatchers they heard gunshots.

"At this point it appears to be two acquaintances inside that apartment at the time," said Sacramento Police Department Officer Doug Morse.

They say it appears one of the men turned the gun on himself, and the motive behind the shooting may have been drugs.

Vanessa Tejeda lives right behind the shooting.

"It's been pretty quiet," she said. Yesterday and today were my days off, so I was just here most of the day, and it was really quiet, really mellow which is really strange that this would happen in broad daylight."

Pam says she's left wondering what led to the death of a man who seemed to live a normal life and had a lot to live for.

"He's a very nice person. His wife is pregnant with their first child. It's a boy, and they got two dogs, and he keeps to himself," she said. "He's a very nice person; very low-key and quiet."

The identities of the men who died have not been released.
