Sacramento County Animal Care In Desperate Need Of Foster Families

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — Sacramento County Animal Care is nearly full and needs help from the community, even if you can't adopt a pet.

The shelter is full of dogs and cats, and is relying on rescue groups to take some of the animals off of its hands. Between Wednesday and Sunday, the shelter on Bradshaw Road took in 70 dogs and 153 cats.

It's also asking people to step up and foster some of these animals. Staff say fostering a pet, even for a couple of weeks, could save other animals' lives.

"Very urgent need right now," said Director David Dickinson. "That's why we put the plea out. We've got many animals here that we can't get adopted out soon enough. We've got animals coming in the front door as well, so we need to make room for the new coming animals."

Sacramento County provides all of the supplies that foster families need. If you're interested in helping out, contact Meghan Ramczyk at ramczykm(at]saccounty.net.
