Stockton Veteran Reunited With Lost Service Dog After CBS13 Story

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A service dog has been reunited with its owner after a rainstorm after a story on CBS13 helped bring man and his best friend back together.

It was a scary 24 hours for a military veteran after his service dog who helps him with his post-traumatic stress disorder escaped during the recent rain.

He's lovable, quiet, a little camera shy, and despite his size, Birdie, a Tibetan mastiff, is scared of the rain.

"He seemed scared," said Jordan Buck, who found Birdie. "It was raining out and apparently birdie doesn't like the rain so he came in to find a warm spot."

Buck heard whimpering outside her Stockton apartment on Wednesday night, and when she opened her front door, the service dog ran in.

Buck went on a mission to find out who Birdie belonged to. She took to social media and even reached out to CBS13 to help in the search.

It was during CBS13's story on Thursday night that Alicia Tiexier saw Birdie and saw that he was alive and safe.

After spending hours on Facebook and on the phone, Alicia was able to track down Jordan.

It turns out Birdie wasn't far away, just around the corner in the same apartment complex as the girl who found him. Alicia says she was taking care of Birdie for a friend, a veteran, who just moved to Stockton a few days ago. Now the pair is back together.

Alicia couldn't be happier about how it all turned out.
