10. Mom Says Stockton Police Used Excessive Force By Deploying K-9 On Disabled Son

A neighbor recorded the arrest that Stockton Police say they handled by the book. The department says the use of force was justified.

The police say a group of people on the sidewalk flagged an officer on patrol down, asking for help, pointing out the suspect. Police say the teen got violent almost immediately.

The 18-year-old's mom says officers crossed the line, and showed CBS13 his scars and staples.

There are two very different versions of how James Smith got those injuries from a Stockton Police K-9.

9. Toby Keith Restaurant Closing Abruptly In Folsom; New Year's Eve Party Canceled

A country music-themed restaurant in Folsom is ending on a sour note as Toby Keith's I Love This Bar And Grill is closing after two years.

Employees at the restaurant got word they would be losing their jobs over the holiday. Despite the fact it hasn't closed yet, a New Year's Eve party planned for Wednesday at the restaurant has been canceled.

Customers trickled into the bar and grill's final hours, but the reason for the closure is still a mystery.

There's no sign at the door, and no announcement on its website. Instead, customers learned the location at the Palladio Mall would be closing when they walked in.

8. Caltrans Preps For What Could Be Worst Storm In Years

Many northern California residents braced for what was the worst storm the area has seen in years. The storm blew away the wet weather seen the previous week that brought massive flooding to three different counties, with those dangerous conditions likely to make a return.

7. Body Found Dead In Car Was Missing, Pregnant Woman

Authorities have confirmed that person found dead inside of a car in Elk Grove is that of missing person Aubrey Andrews.

The Prius belonging to Andrews was found Monday night along the 8400 block of Elk Grove Boulevard. A body was found inside the car, but authorities did not make a positive identification at the time.

No cause of death was given by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. However, authorities have previously said that no obvious signs of foul play have been found. The investigation could take 6 to 8 months, officials say.

 

6. One Granite Bay Neighborhood Experiencing Skunk Invasion

It's a stinky situation. A pest invasion in a Granite Bay neighborhood is causing some to take matters into their own hands.

"When you think you catch them all then another wave of skunks come in," said Vince Matranga, a resident who is battling the skunks.

CBS13 went to see the damage the foul four-legged creatures are doing to the Granite Bay neighborhood.

5. 2 Teens Arrested For Allegedly Feeding Live Cat To 2 Dogs

Two teenagers who allegedly fed a live cat to two dogs, videotaped the attack and posted it online have been arrested in Kern County on suspicion of cruelty to an animal.

While the incident apparently occurred over the summer, Animal Control wasn't contacted until Dec. 4 after a person reported receiving the graphic video on a social networking site.

4. Lawyer Allegedly Caught During Sexual Encounter With Jailed Inmate Fires Back

A local lawyer is banned from visiting her clients in jail after she was allegedly caught engaging in a sexual act with an inmate.

They are scandalous allegations about what happened inside a Stanislaus County jail, but the stories between the accused and the accusers are far different.

Defense attorney Amber Lunsford is no stranger to the law. Now she's defending herself after the Stanislaus County Sheriff says she was caught having sexual relations with one her clients in jail.

3. Family, Friends Remember 12-Year-Old Boy Who Committed Suicide

A 12-year-old boy took his own life. And tonight, that boy's family and friends, including the staff and students at Folsom Middle School, are searching for answers.

Those close to Ronin Shimizu say he could not take the bullying anymore.

The district confirms they did get a number of complaints from the parents of the boy. They say they followed protocol, but friends say it just wouldn't stop. Shimizu had a bright smile, but apparently there was a lot of pain.

 

2. Vehicle Of Missing, Pregnant Sacramento Woman Found In Elk Grove; Body Inside

The vehicle belonging to a pregnant Sacramento woman who was reported missing over a week ago has been located, and woman's body was found inside, according to authorities.

On Monday night Elk Grove police located the 2005 Toyota Prius belonging to Aubrey Andrews, 20, of Sacramento. It was found in a parking lot near the 8400 block of Elk Grove Boulevard, according to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department. Police found the body of a deceased adult female inside the car.

Sacramento Police Department investigators arrived at the scene and confirmed that it was Aubrey's car.

Aubrey was last seen on December 6 around 10 p.m. near her home in the 5900 block of Jacinto Avenue. She was reportedly distraught when she left her home and drove off, police say.

 

1. Women Chased On Interstate 80 By Driver Posing As Sheriff's Deputy In Alleged Road Rage Incident

A case of alleged road rage was caught on camera as two women say someone posing as a sheriff's deputy tried to run them off of Interstate 80.

Passenger Delanie Strykul says she and her friend Vanessa feared for their lives on Saturday, as they feel they were targeted by a woman driving a silver truck.

Strykul says the woman cut them off twice, but then slowed down to drive alongside their car.

"When she did that, I threw up my hands and flipped her off," she said.

It was a move Strykul says she now regrets.
