Davis Man Suspected Of Hitting Motorcyclist, Refusing To Call For Help Arrested
DAVIS (CBS13) – Police say a man suspected of hitting a motorcyclist then leaving the scene in Davis has been arrested.
According to the Davis Police Department, Brian Douglas Cassidy was arrested at his Davis home Thursday morning. Police believe him to be the driver responsible for seriously injuring a motorcyclist in a hit-and-run crash along Chiles Road back in December.
Authorities had issued a warrant for Cassidy's arrest earlier this week on charges of felony DUI and felony hit-and-run.
Further, according to the criminal complaint, Cassidy was driving with a suspended license at the time of the December incident.
CBS13 interviewed the injured motorcyclist in December. The rider alleges Cassidy stopped and talked to him immediately after the crash, but refused to call for help and just drove away.
"I was just begging with him, pleading with him, 'Please call 911. I'm going to lose my hand. I'm going to bleed out,'" said Nikolas Kostelny, the injured motorcyclist.
Davis Police credit a tip they got that Cassidy had come home with helping them with the arrest.
