Three Players That Could Have A Huge Impact In The Super Bowl
Just a few short days away from the most depressing day of the football season - Super Bowl Sunday. Not just depressing because this year's matchup pits two of the least likable franchises in recent history, but because it also means no more meaningful football for a good 6-7 months. Here are three players (not named Tom Brady or Russell Wilson) that could make a huge difference on Sunday.
1. Kam Chancellor
Not that Chancellor isn't a household name at this point, being one of the top safeties in the league. Chancellor is one of the only players in the league that could (possibly) match up physically with Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. New England's offense runs through Gronk, and if Chancellor does his part to slow down the stud tight end, it could cripple the Pats' offense.
2. Vince Wilfork
The Pats' defensive tackle will be the key to slowing down Marshawn Lynch. Wilfork's job (one at which he has been among the most successful in the league for over a decade) is to swallow up as many blockers as he can on every play. Listed at 6'2", 325 pounds, if Wilfork is able to command two or three blockers on run plays, Marshawn Lynch might be in for a long day.
3. LeGarrette Blount
This year's iteration of the Patriots rely on the run more than you might expect from a team led by Tom Brady, and though Blount splits time in the backfield, he's the guy that is most capable of dominating a game on the ground. The Seahawks haven't been beaten many times in the last few years, but when they are, it's been shown that you have to be physical to do so. If New England wants a win, they need to be able to match body blows with Seattle.
Prediction: Pats by six in overtime.
