Woman Accused Of Child Endangerment In Roseville Street Racing

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — Roseville Police arrested two drivers accused of dangerous street racing—one of them with a child in the car.

During the day, the parking garage seems quiet with cars coming and going. But at night, neighbors say it turns into a noisy drag strip. On Wednesday, police moved into the area, charging one of the drivers with taking a child's life into her hands.

Rob Dick was just one of many who have heard the after-hours antics that take place in and around the city parking garage.

"The kids go up to the top of the building and do spinouts," he said.

The parking garage is open 24 hours a day. Neighbors say cars go racing and spinning at night.

Police say they got a call about drivers going at it again, but by the time they arrived, the cars were gone. An officer would spot the suspects nearby on Atlantic Street where the two cars lined up and peeled down the road.

One of the cars was driven by a teenager, but in the other, 20-year-old Karina Hernandez was behind the wheel with a very pregnant woman and a child under the age of 5 in the back seat.

"Children in the backseat made it extremely dangerous so she is in jail on suspicion of felony child endangerment," police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said.
