WATCH: Wild Police Chase Sweeps Through Los Angeles, Woman Carjacked On Camera
SOUTH GATE, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles police say officers shot at a gunman who smashed up a car during a wild chase, carjacked another vehicle and tried to steal another before he was brought down.
The man was taken away by ambulance Monday evening in Montebello and his condition is unknown.
Officer Drake Madison says a report of a possibly stolen car led to the chase sometime after 5 p.m.
The Toyota Camry veered through southeast of downtown, sometimes against traffic, and hit at least four cars before the driver abandoned the smashed vehicle and stole a woman's car at gunpoint.
Another chase on two freeways ended when the car became wedged in traffic on a Montebello street.
The man apparently tried to steal another car before he was taken down.
