Tow Truck Driver's Widow Pleads For Driver Who Killed Him To Come Forward

DIXON (CBS13) — A young dad and a hard worker was run down as he stood stranded alongside his tow truck. His wife turned widow in the blink of an eye shared her heartbreak and horror.

Jamie Bower's voice cracked as she tried talking about her husband Michael in the past tense. The loss has been so traumatic, she says she still can't bring herself to tell their 3-year-old daughter.

She keeps the last text he sent on Monday night close to her heart. As she tries to wrap her mind around a harsh new normal—life without him.

"I wish he would have talked to me more so I knew he was OK," she said.

The 29-year-old father of two was killed Monday night after investigators say a big rig clipped him and kept going on HIghway 50 near Jefferson Boulevard. The California Highway Patrol believes the big rig driver may not have realized anyone was hurt.

"I don't know how you can't because tow trucks are pretty high," Jamie said. "He had his lights on. He hit his mirror, you know, you would know you hit something big."

With 3-year-old Sophie and 10-month-old Emma left behind, it's home videos and pictures that she clings to for comfort, reflecting on how her husband was always eager to swap out his drill for a date in his daughter' backyard dream house.

"She has trains and they would always fly her kite. He built her a playhouse in the backyard," she said.

With investigators now asking for the public's help in tracking down the driver who killed Bower, his widow says she wants justice as she tries to push forward without the rock of her family.
