Modesto Couple Believes Brother Among Up To 150 Christians Abducted By Islamic State Militants

MODESTO (CBS13) — A Modesto couple says they believe their brother was among as many as 150 Christians abducted from a village by Islamic State militants.

The couple says they were notified by a Syrian neighbor that at least five of their family members were taken.

Sharelt David and her husband didn't want to give her brother's name in fear it could be used by the group. They also told CBS13 they haven't reported the kidnapping to the U.S. government for the same reason.

They believe her brother and and his children, along with her nephew and his wife, were taken.

They lived in an Assyrian Village they believe was targeted because it was Christian.

"Maybe over 6,000 forces went through. They were all wearing black. What we heard was that it was like a sea of black uniforms marching down the villages and burning down the churches," said Romel David.
