Authorities: No Obvious Signs Of Trauma On Infant Found In Yolo County

WOODLAND (CBS13) – Authorities say an autopsy is underway on the infant found dead outside of Knights Landing Wednesday morning.

According to Captain Larry Cecchettini from the Yolo County Sheriff's Department, the infant was clothed at the time it was found in a thicket of brush right off of Ridge Cut Slough. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the infant, Cecchettini said.

Both Justice and his mother Samantha Green went missing on Saturday, Feb. 21. Green was found distraught, bruised and with torn pants near a Knights Landing slough on Tuesday night. Investigators have not named Green a suspect in the case and do not believe foul play is involved.

Cecchettini says they will release more information once the autopsy is completed. He says the coroner's office still has not positively identified the body.

Camouflage ribbons were handed out as a reflection of strength and courage at a vigil held Wednesday night for Justice. No one from the baby's family was at the vigil, but a relative says the boy's mother and father spent several hours down at police headquarters talking to investigators.

It was a night of mourning under a cloud of mystery and strong convictions surrounding the death of Justice.

"Stop the negativity until it's finished," said family friend Sandra Tafoya. "Nobody is a court of law here. Nobody can pass judgment. Everybody needs to stop until Samantha has come to terms with what has happened."

"I don't think she had anything to do with hurting the baby. I mean, she just loved that little boy. She would never hurt him," said Justice's grandmother Patty Rees.
