Sacramento State Tops Portland State; UC Davis Cuts Magic Number To 2

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS13/AP) - Mikh McKinney pumped in 21 points and Sacramento State took over first place in the Big Sky Conference with a 73-60 win over Portland State Saturday night.

With two road games remaining, Sacramento State (19-8, 13-3) is a half-game ahead of Montana (13-4) and a game ahead of Eastern Washington (12-4).

The Hornets scored a pair of field goals in the final minute of the first half to take a 31-27 lead at the break. Iziahiah Sweeney hit a 3-pointer to pull Portland State (14-12, 8-8) even, 49-49 with 8:53 remaining in the game, but the Hornets answered with a 16-3 run to make it 65-52 with 1:28 left.

McKinney was 7 of 15 from the field and 6-for-6 from the line. Dylan Garrity added 15 points and Nick Hornsby added 10 for Sacramento State.

Tiegbe Bamba finished with 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Vikings.

In San Luis Obispo, UC Davis managed rained on Cal Poly's senior night with a 68-54 win over the Mustangs. The win means UC Davis' magic number for winning the Big West Conference has been cut to two. A win by the Aggies or a loss UC Irvine will continue to cut that number.
