Samantha Green Will Be Facing Murder Charge For Death Of Infant

WOODLAND (CBS13) – Samantha Green will now be facing a murder charge for the death of her infant son, according to an amended complaint released Wednesday.

Prosecutors had arraigned Green on an involuntary manslaughter charge last week.

Leading up to last week's hearing, investigators had been pointing toward a possible murder charge for Samantha Green in the death of 20-day-old Justice Rees.

Prosecutors declined to say why they didn't charge Green with murder at her March 4 arraignment. It is unclear what led to the complaint being amended.

Green was arrested on Feb. 28. for the death of Justice. She and her baby had disappeared On Feb. 21, but then was found in a slough just outside of Knights Landing on Feb. 24 and told authorities she had been kidnapped. Justice's body was discovered in the slough the day after Green was found.

Green pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge at her arraignment.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 13 at 8:30 a.m.
