Family Mourns For 12-Year-Old Girl Killed In Stockton Car Crash

STOCKTON (CBS13) – A 12-year-old girl is dead, killed in a car crash on a dangerous stretch of road in Stockton. Police say her father, who could face DUI charges, was behind the wheel.

The tragedy hasn't stopped drivers from speeding down California Street, risking their own life. Our cameras caught a wreckless driver going so fast he lost control and spun out.

Hours earlier, police say a 42-year-old father suspected of driving under the influence did crash. His 12-year-old girl Jokiesa Victoria wasn't wearing a seatbelt and flew out of the back window.

Jokiesa's grandmother was so distraught at the scene Saturday that she collapsed.

"I'm always going to be her mother, I'm always going to be his grandmother. I'm just, I'm torn," she said later.

Jokiesa's grandparents say their son had problems with alcohol abuse and tried getting help.

"I just pray to God that I can forgive him," said Eddie Levy, the suspect's father.

Stockton police say this is a dangerous stretch of road as it is and warn people to slow down.

"It's sad a reminder not to drink and drive," said Stockton Police spokesman Joe Silva.

Police say the father is facing felony DUI charges. He is still in the hospital as of Saturday night.
