Garth Brooks Kicks Off 6-Show Series In Sacramento Tonight

The time has come!

Garth Brooks will kick off his six-day stint in Sacramento tonight.

The country singer will play Sleep Train Arena this weekend and into next week. This will be his only stop in California. After tonight's show, Brooks will perform two concerts Saturday, followed by one on Sunday. He'll take Monday off, then perform on Tuesday and on April 1.

At a press conference on Friday, Mayor Kevin Johnson awarded Brooks a key to the city.

Brooks retired in 2009, but began a comeback tour last September to promote the release of "Man Against Machine", his first album of new material since 2001.

The last time Brooks preformed in Sacramento was in 1997.

Also at the press conference, Brooks said the shows, which will vary by performance, will be recorded and possibly used in a live recording.

He said while he's here, he'll be eating at In-n-Out.

Because of Brooks' popularity, parking for the shows could be a challenge for concertgoers and for event staff -- especially between Saturday's back-to-back shows. As a result, concert organizers issued this statement explaining when to arrive:
