4 Dead After Wrong-Way Driver Hits Car Head-On Near Woodland

YOLO COUNTY (CBS13) – Four people are dead after a wrong-way crash west of Woodland Saturday night.

The scene was on northbound Interstate 505, north of State Route 16.

California Highway Patrol says an officer spotted a car going the wrong-way in the fast lane approaching him head on a little before 10:30 p.m. The officer made a U-turn and attempted to overtake the car, but before he could the car crashed into another vehicle.

The wrong-way driver, only identified as a man, and three of the four people in the other car died. CHP notes that the wrong-way driver was going about 85 mph when he hit the other car.

One person was taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown.

No names have been released, but two of the three victims have been identified as females.
