Davis Weighs Solutions For Cutting Water In Drought

DAVIS (CBS13) — The city of Davis has been trying to come up with ways to conserve water and after weeks of deliberation it has come up with choices on what will get water and what will do without.

Watering the grass or the trees? Davis, like many California cities, is grappling with water choices in reaching its 28 percent water conservation mandate from the state.

The city has come up with 20 action plans that it will spell out at its next City Council meeting on Tuesday.

The city is choosing trees over grass, making some people in town very happy. City leaders point out grass and greenbelts will be revived inexpensively compared to replacing trees.

Sports fields are also coming out green, with the city saying the health and wellness benefits they provide are important to people, so they will get water.
