Plane Held On Taxiway At Sacramento International Airport After Reported Bomb Threat

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Authorities swept through a plane at Sacramento International Airport after a reported bomb threat Saturday evening.

The plane is Delta Flight 2371 from Minneapolis. It landed around 7:21 p.m. at SMF and was held away from the terminal on a taxiway, an airport official said.

Officials say the plane was held behind out of an abundance of caution.

"We were just staying there and there was nothing in the way, so something was unusual," said passenger Richard Grant.

Passengers reported that they were checked by dogs. They were later deplaned on the runway and bused over to the terminal.

Just after 10 p.m., authorities announced that the plane had been cleared and nothing suspicious was found on board.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, the flight was one of 10 nationwide investigated for a bomb threat Saturday by transportation security officials in Washington, D.C.

The FBI later released a statement Sunday afternoon about the incident.

"We are investigating a number of threats made against airline flights. Although the threats do not appear to be credible, we nevertheless take any threat to aviation seriously and will work with prosecutors to identify and charge the responsible parties," said FBI spokesperson Gina Swankie.

A total of 131 passengers and 5 crew members were on board the plane.
