Yuba City Police Warn Women To Be On Guard After Attacks

YUBA CITY (CBS13) — Yuba City Police are warning women to be on the lookout after two attempted attacks.

In both cases, the women got away without major injuries, but no arrests have been made.

According to the family of the first victim, the first attack took place here on this sidewalk. The victim would be pinned against her car, and tonight police are concerned this guy is not done.

Neighbors off of Stabler Park Lane are left feeling uneasy knowing a man tried to attack two separate women over the past two weeks in the normally peaceful neighborhood.

Jessica Wideman says her mother had gone to get something out of her car when a man ran and pinned her against her car. She was able to break free.

Don Madison, the victim's father, says he's lucky his daughter got away.

"It's very scary because a lot of people walk this area, you might see 15 to 20 in the evening," he said.

Just a few days ago, a man believed to be the same suspect grabbed a woman just across the street again late at night. She was able to break free.

"We certainly want to make sure anybody who lives in the area is aware of these incidents and the similarity in circumstances," said Yuba City Police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey.

Because it was dark, police have a limited description. They know he's a Hispanic man between 5'6" and 5'8" with a medium build and a black hoodie.

Police are reminding all joggers that it's always smart to jog with a partner, but if you're jogging by yourself, don't use headphones.
