Man Killed By Falling Stairwell In Folsom Identified

FOLSOM (CBS13) — The man who died after a stairway collapsed at a Folsom apartment complex has been identified.

Shunxiang Yuan, 26, of Folsom, died on Friday after a stairway gave way at The Legends At Willow Creek apartments.

Police say Yuan was visiting the complex at the time.

Residents CBS13 spoke to said another stairway in the complex fell less than a year ago. Nobody was injured in the incident.

Management told CBS13 it was aware of the issue and conducting repairs at the time.

Spokesman Larry Kamer says some stairways were propped up in the short term, and that the issue had to do with where the stairs were attached to the sides of buildings.
