Hunter Pence Strains Oblique, Sits Out

ST. LOUIS (AP) Hunter Pence of the San Francisco Giants was undergoing an MRI exam for a left oblique injury and was not in the lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Manager Bruce Bochy anticipated having results after Tuesday night's game.

Pence was hurt swinging on a fly out against St. Louis closerTrevor Rosenthal in the ninth inning of a 2-1 loss Monday night.

Bochy had planned to give Pence a day off Tuesday. Justin Maxwell played right field and was batting eighth.
