Ciara Opens Up About Russell Wilson-Future Controversy

by E Parker

Ciara visited CBS This Morning and attempted to add perspective to the controversy surrounding her current boyfriend, NFL star Russell Wilson, and his relationship with her son, a child she shares with rap star Future.

"It's been very interesting to hear what a lot of guys have to say," she told host Gayle King about the ongoing feud between her and Future about when she should introduce her new boyfriend, Wilson, to their son. "I feel like it's a double standard. One time when we were together, I took care of his [Future's] kids as well, at a very young time in our relationship. He has four kids, one is adopted."

The controversy exploded in May when the couple was spotted walking in San Antonio's River Walk and Wilson was seen pushing Baby Future's stroller and looking comfortable in a fatherly role. Later the Seattle Seahawks quarterback was seen in pictures giving a giant hug to Future's and Ciara's one-year-old son after a practice. The images exploded into a controversy that played out largely along gender lines, with some guys commenting that it was too soon for Wilson to be involved in the child's life.

One of those guys was T.I., who has worked with both Ciara and Future.

"I'd go da F--- OFF bro!!!," he said on an Instagram thread August 3. "S---- way outta line to me…. But that's just me."

Future blasted the new couple for using his son in a "publicity stunt" to gain attention for their relationship.

"Of course I wouldn't want anyone to push my son. That's like the number one rule," Future said in an interview with The Breakfast Club. "If I was a kid, and my mom had a dude pushing me, I would've jumped out the stroller and slapped the s--- out of him. You never do that in our community. You don't even bring a man around your son. You only know this dude for a few months and you're bringing him around your kid? Who does that? Nobody does that."

Ciara shot back on CBS This Morning, arguing that the people who made comments about her judgement didn't have all the information.

"To speak on such a sensitive and real situation when you don't have all the facts, that to me is a big frustrating part of it all. Us adults will be fine. But my son has to grow up one day and have to see. And to the guys who have such an opinion, know your facts. I did reach out to my son's father for him and Russell to speak and he didn't want to talk to me... I don't know what they expected me to do except live my life."
