Woman Sues San Diego Produce Company Claiming Cucumbers Gave Her Salmonella

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A Minnesota woman who was sickened by cucumbers that contained salmonella is now suing a California company.

The lawsuit filed Monday says Kathleen Dvergsten became sick after eating a salad at a Red Lobster in Farmington. She became severely ill Aug. 14 and was hospitalized for nearly a week before going to a rehab center.

Dvergsten is suing Andrew and Williamson Fresh Produce, Inc. The San Diego company voluntarily recalled "Limited Edition" brand cucumbers Friday and has said it's working to determine if the cucumbers are involved in the outbreak that's sickened about 300 people in 27 states.

The lawsuit says Andrew and Williamson had a duty to sell food that was safe. It doesn't specify damages, but says Dvergsten is seeking compensation for pain and suffering and medical expenses.
