Fire Burns 2 Acres Of Vegetation In American River Parkway

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A fire burned in an area of thick brush and trees along the American River Parkway in Sacramento.

The fire started just after 6 a.m. Tuesday, about a half mile east of Discovery Park, just off the American River Bike Trail, according to Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson Chris Harvey.

The fire began in grass and eventually spread to bushes and trees. It was contained to approximately 2 acres.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters used drip torches to light backfires along a dozer line fire to prevent the northward spread of the blaze.

Crews were having trouble containing the fire after it spread to trees and caused burning limbs to fall.
