Vacaville Man Arrested In Davis Nightclub Stabbing; 2 More Suspects Sought

VACAVILLE (CBS13) —A Vacaville man was arrested for the stabbing death of a Southern California man in a Davis nightclub on Saturday.

The 23-year-old victim will not be identified until after an autopsy on Monday. He was pronounced dead at the hospital after what witnesses are describing as a bar fight inside a popular Thai restaurant that turns into a nightclub.

It's not known whether the victim was a student, but an employee at the nightclub says the Friday night crowd was mostly UC Davis students.

Martin Contreras, a 25-year-old Vacaville man, was arrested on Saturday in connection with the homicide on Saturday. Police are also searching for two more men they believe are connected to the killing.

Crime scene tape surrounded KetMoRee on the corner of Third and G streets hours after the violence. Downtown Davis is known for it's calm, family and college-friendly lifestyle, leaving residents in shock.

"I've never seen crime tape in downtown Davis," said Barb Boehler.

Bouncer Abhi Amara was working the door Saturday night when he heard the screaming inside and witnesses trying to break up the fight.

"Me and two bouncers were outside and tried to break up the fight," he said. "We just saw him, on the floor."

He says people started running out the door all at once, and he thinks those responsible got away in the commotion.

Contreras is due in court on Wednesday. He is facing a charge of murder and is ineligible for bail.
