Marysville Men Stop Attempted Bar Robber, Nearly Get Shot

MARYSVILLE (CBS13) — Two Marysville men took on a gunman threatening to shoot and rob patrons at a bar.

Josh Henricksen and T.J. Blackwell are regulars at the Wood Butcher Bar in Marysville. They play a lot of shuffleboard together.

But around at around 1 a.m. on Friday, the shuffle quickly turned into a life-threatening scuffle when Henricksen heard the bartender yell for help.

"The girl said, 'Hey we're being robbed,'" he said.

He says the suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Corry Dahl was wearing a hoodie covering his face, pointing a pistol at people.

"All we see is his arm with a gun pointed at the bartender right there," he said.

They say Dahl then demanded their wallets.

And we're like OK," Blackwell said. "I thought it was a joke until he actually pointed the gun at us."

But it was no joke—the gun was real and Blackwell said Fahl threatened to shoot everyone in the bar.

That's when the former high-school football player decided to make a move.

"So I tackle him from here and we're wrestling all the way through here and we fall out," he said.

Once outside, the fight was on for the gun. As Blackwell struggled for control, Henricksen dove on both of them trying to grab the gun.

The gun went off, narrowly missing Blackwell's head.

Blackwell is still recovering from a blast that almost took the young father's life.

"I'm just being able to hear out of my left ear," he said.

Dahl was arrested in front of the bar. He faces robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges.
