Man Shot, Killed In Sacramento Apartment As Children Slept Upstairs

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Officers are investigating a shooting early Friday morning that has claimed the life of one man.

The scene is along 300 block of Vallejo Way. Police say the man's girlfriend called 911, saying she was sleeping upstairs when she heard multiple gunshots. She then came downstairs and found that her boyfriend had been shot.

"[The victim's girlfriend] did hear a male voice, and there was some kind of conversation at the doorway," said Sgt. Elmer Marzan with the Sacramento Police Department.

Shell casings were found outside the apartment; investigators believe the shooting took place at the doorway.

Two young kids were sleeping in the apartment at the time of shooting, police say.

"He's a father, he's a brother, a young man, didn't even reach 30-years-old," said Faye Johnson, the victim's aunt.

There is no suspect description at this time. The victim's family is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

"I don't have a reward, I don't have nothing to give. I'm just asking you, plead for you so that justice can be served, because he took a life that didn't even deserve to die," Johnson said.
