After Measure H, Volunteers Hope To Beautify Rancho Cordova
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – For 15 years, Darlene Robbins has looked at the fence around her front yard as an eye sore.
"The fence would have probably eventually fallen down and possibly not been able to be replaced," Robbins said.
Rancho Cordova, thanks to Measure H passed last year, has been offering people with low income the chance to improve their home for free. Twenty projects are on the calendar for the next couple of months.
"Some other fences, some yard clean up, wheelchair ramps," said Rick Eaton, executive director of the Sierra Service Project.
The city has teamed up with Sierra Service Project to help families with these home improvement projects.
"It's important for communities to [band] together to help each other. It's important for all of us to give back," Eaton said.
Darlene's new fence is expected to be done by Wednesday and she's anxious to see how it turns out.
"When I drive up I'll be thinking, 'Wow it looks nice here," Robbins said.
All of the work is done by volunteers. Homeowners who want to have their home touched up can contact the city.
