Rio Linda Home Invasion Suspect Now Sought In Murder Of Estranged Girlfriend

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — A home invasion suspect who got away is now being called a murderer.

Jonnyrae Witt, 25, is considered a dangerous fugitive who is accused of murdering his girlfriend, as well as assault with a deadly weapon and home invasion.

Sacramento County deputies are concerned about Witt. They say he got away after a home invasion a week and a half ago in Rio Linda, then later killed his girlfriend.

They say he wandered into a home through an unlocked door, the homeowner confronted him. Witt ran off as he fired a gun toward the homeowner.

Other neighbors' homes were evacuated as deputies set up a perimeter searching for Witt. They eventually determined he had gotten away.

"Our investigators have been attempting to locate him, in regards to that crime. He had been wanted on probable cause for it," said deputy Tony Turnbull.

Over the weekend, deputies say Witt decided to pull out a gun and kill his estranged girlfriend 31-year-old Leslie Cramblit near Rackerby in Yuba County.

"My message to him would be, turn yourself in. You know we don't want anyone else getting hurt out there obviously nor himself," Turnbull said.

If you see him, call 911 and do not approach him.
