1 Person, 2 Cats Found Dead In Home After Fire In Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) - One person, a cat and a dog died following a house fire in Citrus Heights on Wednesday morning, say firefighters.

Around 4:30 a.m., firefighters arrived at the home in the 7200 Block of Sunrise Boulevard and found that flames had spread throughout the two-story home.

Crews fought the fire from outside of the home then went inside and found a body on the second floor, according to Sacramento Metro Fire Department Battalion Chief Mark Repetto.

Firefighters are identifying the person who died only as an elderly woman. They did not find anyone else in the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A nearby stretch of Sunrise Boulevard was partially closed due to firefighting operations.
