Historic Sierra Nevada House Inn With History Of Burning Down Burns Down

COLOMA (CBS13) — A historic inn with a history of burning down that was in the process of being converted into office space has burned in Coloma on Monday.

The Sierra Nevada House dates back to the early days of the Gold Rush in its original incarnation, though that building burned back in 1902.  It was then rebuilt as a community hall before it burned once again in 1925.

It was rebuilt in 1963 and used recently as lodging space.

However on Nov. 24, ownership announced they would be going in a different direction, converting it into office space for local businesses.

The cause of Monday's fire is unknown.

The owners are left sifting through the rubble, unsure if they'll try to rebuild once again.

A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the fire.
