Mothers Rally Against Gun Violence On Anniversary Of Sandy Hook Massacre

DAVIS (CBS13) — Mothers pushing against gun violence gathered in rallies across the country on Monday, including one in Davis.

"I equate this with Mothers Against Drunk Driving," said Beth Foraker with the Davis chapter of Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America. "We're at the very beginning and we can shift a cultural norm. I know we can."

They rallied on the third anniversary of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School that claimed the lives of 20 children and six staff members at the school.

Sporting orange with gun violence in mind, they say victims of that attack need more than just a moment of silence.

"Universal background checks; supported by 90 percent of the population of the United States." Sara Keeler said. "Even it's support by 70 percent, more than 70 percent of NRA members. 80 percent of Republicans."

Rallies against gun violence took place across the country on Monday, including one in Stockton.
