Suspected Child Abuse Case Leads To Discovery Of Two Dead Children In Storage Locker

REDDING (CBS13) — CBS13 is learning new details on a horrific case of child abuse and suspected murder that spans Northern California.

On Friday, a severely abused 9-year-old girl was found in Plumas County, and a 39-year-old woman and 17-year-old young man have since been arrested. Then came a tip from Salinas about two missing kids, which led investigators to Redding where the bodies of two children were found in a storage locker.

Redding police on Tuesday released a photo of 3-year-old Delylah Tara. The picture shows her wearing pink pajamas, her big brown eyes gazing straight into the camera. Police also released the photo of her big brother, 6-year-old Shaun Tara. The clean-cut boy appears to be posing for what appears to be a school picture. Police are asking for the public's help to try and figure out what happened in their final days.

Police say officially both are missing, but they're also waiting for autopsy results for the bodies of the two children found dead in a storage locker.

The grisly discovery of the children's bodies came after police arrested 39-year-old Tami Joy Huntsman, and 17-year-old Gonzalo Curiel in another investigation. They are charged with torture of a 9-year-old girl found locked in their suv who is now recovering in a hospital.

Investigators say the pair recently travelled to northern california in that suv, driving through Salinas, Dunnigan, Shingletown, Quincy and Redding. The time span was reported to be between November 27 and December 11.

Huntsman is reportedly connected to another high- profile criminal investigation where she spoke to reporters without showing her face to cameras.

"I'm just speechless pretty much about the whole thing," she said. "I can't believe any of it."

Tami Huntsman is reportedly the sister of Wayne Allen Huntsman, charged with starting the massive King fire in El Dorado County last year. Now she's the one facing criminal accusations, the suspect at the center of a gut-wrenching investigation to identify the two children found dead in the storage locker.

Huntsman was the caretaker for all of the children in this investigation and officials said she was the subject of an investigation earlier this year for child neglect.

The autopsies of the children are scheduled to be performed Wednesday.
