Natomas Woman Fears String Of Recent Crimes May Be Related

By Kelly Ryan

NATOMAS (CBS13) — Residents in a north Natomas neighborhood are keeping a close watch after a recent string of crimes ranging from burglary to assault.

Tracy doesn't want her last name used, but the Natomas resident wants to warn others around her about a series of crimes she thinks are related. She bought her condo in Hampden Village in June.

"It's quiet, I felt safe here. We all feel safe here," she said.

But then, she became a victim of crime and also learned of three other crimes that sounded like the same suspects were involved. Now, she feels a little uneasy.

Last December, her doorbell began to ring a number of times. Her boyfriend thought he recognized a person outside, but when he opened the door, five young men in bandanas and hoodies tried to rush in.

"They tried to shove their way through the door. he was able to fight off two of them. the other three ran," she said.

A few weeks later, she saw a report of a similar crime.

"It was Natomas Park west and she was in the shower and they kept ringing the door and knocking," she said.

When that woman didn't answer, she said the suspects tried to get in through a window.

Lori says that woman's description of the suspects matched her attackers. She also believes another crime happened on Tuesday when a group of teenagers was robbed and assaulted.

Sacramento Police say they were called out to the 100 block of Bellows Pond Place at 10:30 p.m .on Tuesday after a report of a robber. The victims say they were approached by multiple suspects, one who took out a handgun. Police say the victims were robbed and assaulted.

Police can't say if the three incidents are related, but urge residents to get and stay connected to their neighbors, keep a close eye on any person or group they may not know, and call 911 if they have any concerns.

No suspects have been named in any of the cases.
