2 Killed In Central California Highway Crash Where 4 Crashes Reported

MERCED, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say two people died in a car crash in a Central California highway where three other crashes were later reported.

California Highway Patrol Officer Moises Onsurez tells the Merced Sun-Star two men died in the first collision Saturday on Highway 59.

He says the two were in a pickup truck that crashed into the back of a milk truck before being hit by a two other cars.

The CHP says a second crash was reported in the same area as officers were responding to the first call. Two more crashes happened later in the same area.

The CHP says there was fog on the highway around the time of the crashes, but that a cause remains under investigation.
