20 Displaced From Women's And Children's Shelter

YUBA CITY (CBS13) - Twenty women and children were displaced from a domestic violence shelter in Yuba City last evening after a fire damaged the building they were being housed in.

The Yuba City Fire Department were dispatched out to the Casa De Esperanza shelter at 1:30am to fight the blaze.  Executive Director of the shelter Marsha Krause-Taylor told  CBS 13 that "the immediate needs of the 20 displaced persons were being attended too thanks to a very loving community. "

The fire took out the shelters emergency crisis line but the shelter has set up a temporary line to aid women in crisis.  That number is 530-713-1288.  At this time it is unknown when shelter administration will be allowed back into the building.

Krause-Taylor says the shelter will rebuild, that they "were in the process of finding a new facility, this will speed that process up."

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.  Anyone with information should contact the Yuba City Fire Department.
