Teen Accused Of Driving Into Sacramento Child's Bedroom, Twice

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A teenager is accused of driving through a Sacramento home and into a child's bedroom, then speeding away.

According to the homeowner, the car backed into the bedroom, twice.

"Luckily she wasn't in the room where she normally sleeps," said Steven Hickey.

The pile of sheetrock and rubble was once his 7-year-old daughter's room. In that pile is a child's bed.

It's hard for Brittany to even go in there.

"We saw debris flying and the whole house shook," she said. "I can't. I can't even think about what would happen if she were in her bed."

Brittany and Steven say their 3-month-old infant was in their back bedroom and their 7-year-old was asleep on the living room couch when they heard an explosion.

"You felt it in your bones, your body. You felt everything," she said.

A car slammed into the house with tremendous force.

"They went directly through my daughter's bedroom and the bathroom," she said.

They saw a teenage girl behind the wheel and a male passenger in the front seat arguing.

"We heard talking. Like somebody was yelling, screaming," she said.

But that was just the beginning.

"And she pulled forward and backed up again. She did it twice," she said.

Thinking it was a home invasion robbery, she ran for the kids.

"My immediate reaction was to cover my infant with a blanket to make sure no one saw her or anything," she said.

As she gathered the kids, Steven confronted the teenage driver still sitting in the car in the bedroom. They say the driver sped through the bedroom and down the street.

"She would have been under there. That's exactly where her bed was," Hickey said.

Police are not releasing the teen's identity because of her age, but she is now facing hit-and-run charges.
