High-School Teachers Learn Tech Lessons For Students
ROCKLIN (CBS13) — High-school teachers are being challenged to do a better job preparing students for the digital workplace.
A two-day workshop is meant to help teach how to teach their students to improve their future value in the workplace.
Nearly two-dozen teachers from high schools throughout the area participated in the hackathon sponsored by Rocklin's hacker lab and Intel. They're learning the basics of how computer hardware and software work together.
"We're all learning how to integrate code with electronics," said Thomas Stargarrd from Del Oro High School.
Their goal is to figure out how to integrate basic computer science technology into their classroom curriculum to help prepare student for the future.
"Think about all the jobs that are going digital," he said.
Gone are the days of factory jobs where teens could go from high-school graduation to the assembly line.
"Where it used to be everybody could get a job on the assembly line, it's all automated now. The only jobs that are there are people who can fix that on the assembly line," he said.
