Vacaville Toddler Declared Brain-Dead Transferred To Care Facility Out Of Country

VACAVILLE (CBS13) – The Vacaville child declared brain-dead has been transferred to care facility out of the country.

Two-year-old Israel Stinson's family posted an update about the toddler on Sunday, writing that he had been transferred out of Kaiser Roseville Medical Center.

The exact facility has not been identified, but family did say it was outside of the United States.

"After weeks and weeks of searching, no hospital facility in the United States would accept our son," family wrote.

Israel was transported from the hospital by an air ambulance on Saturday, Alexandra Snyder - the family's lawyer - tells CBS13. He is now getting nutrition and treatment, Snyder said.

Snyder said a neurologist and pediatric specialist at the hospital where Israel is now at have inspected the boy and say he is not brain dead. Snyder would not identify the doctors.

Kaiser Permanente officials confirmed that Israel was no longer at their hospital.

"Our primary goals have always been to offer our support to Israel's family and follow the courts' direction," said Chris Palkowski, MD, Chief of Staff at Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center, in a statement. "We hope this transfer brings peace for Israel's family."

Israel suffered a severe asthma attack in April and was declared brain-dead by doctors. Family has since been fighting to keep him on life support.

Snyder said the family intends to bring Israel back to the US to be placed in home care or in a long-term care facility.
