Shot Fired At Oakland Police Sergeant

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Oakland police says a shot was fired at a sergeant, who wasn't hit but who was taken to a hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.

The department said Sunday in a brief statement the sergeant was responding to a call when she was involved in a collision with another car Saturday night. After the wreck, a man approached her patrol car and fired one shot, hitting the vehicle.

It says the investigation is ongoing.

Oakland Johnna Watson says investigators are gathering surveillance video from nearby homes and looking into what led up to the shooting.

Watson says that since the killing of five Dallas police officers, officers have been patrolling in pairs, but patrol sergeants have been riding alone.
