Library Bans Pokemon Go After It Becomes Too Popular

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The public library in Provo is banning Pokemon Go on its property after becoming overwhelmed with masses of players that led to a host of problems.

Library officials said Thursday in a blog post that the four Pokestops at the library at first brought a great sense of energy and community to the library as people gathered at all hours on the front lawn.

But officials say it became too much, leading to increase in electricity costs and trash and complaints about noise levels. Parking became a problem, too, causing people attending events at the library to have to park blocks away.

The issue marks the latest unintended consequence in everyday life due to the enormous popularity of the GPS-powered "augmented reality" game where players hunt for fictional creatures on their smartphones.
