Firefighters: American River Parkway Fire 'Caused By Human Activity'

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A fire that filled the skies of Sacramento with smoke on Thursday was caused by humans, but it's not known if it was set intentionally, the Sacramento Fire Department said on Friday.

Crews are still battling the 173-acre fire that started on at around 1:13 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The fire's eastern progress was halted by the remains of a fire that burned in the same area in June.

Temperatures in the 80s kept fire conditions relatively moderate for this time of the year. This weekend will have worse fire conditions, with temperatures expected to be close to 100 degrees on Sunday.

A firefighter who was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation during the fire is recovering at home.
