Police: Speed A Factor In Overnight Crash That 4 Injured Near Hiram Johnson High School

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Four people are being treated in the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a pole in Sacramento.

Just before 1:30 a.m., a car was speeding on 64th Street and 14th Avenue when it left the road and slammed into a power pole, flipped onto its side, and caught fire, according to a statement from Sacramento police.

Matthew Tillotson, who lives nearby, saw the flames and ran out to help.

“We heard this huge crash and came running out, heard people screaming yelling, saw that the car was on fire, and we ran out and got the fire extinguisher,” said Tillotson.

Six people were in the car. Four were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Traffic on 14th Street was reduced to one lane while a repair crew replaced the pole.
