Twitter To Discontinue Vine App

Vine, the social media app which has users share short videos, will be discontinued, Twitter announced on Thursday.

Twitter, the owner of Vine, said that the app would be discontinued in the coming months. Users will be able to download their old Vines, the company said.

The app was launched by Twitter in 2013 as a social media app to share videos. Unique to Vine is the 6-second time constraint videos are given.

The move to discontinue Vine comes as Twitter faces business challenges. News broke this week that the company would be laying off 9 percent of its staff.
