Former After-School Program Employee Convicted Of Molestation Sentenced To Life In Prison

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The former Sacramento after-school program employee convicted of molesting children will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

The district attorney's office announced Friday that Joshua Vasquez had been sentenced to 150 years to life in prison. He was convicted on six counts of committing lewd acts upon a child.

Vasquez worked for an after-school program with the Sacramento City Unified School District when the crimes were committed. Prosecutors said Vasquez made friends with children, then played "games" with them - all involving situations where the end goal was getting the children to touch his genitals. Vasquez is said to have recorded the acts.

Authorities say six children ranging in age from 7 to 13 were victimized by Vasquez.

Vasquez was arrested in November 2015 and promptly resigned from his position with the school district.
