Family Mourns Inderkum High School Student Gunned Down In Garage

NATOMAS (CBS13) - Police are investigating the murder of a high-school student gunned down in his garage.

It happened Tuesday night at his home on Kandinsky Way.

Family says Gurnoor Singh Nahal was coming home from work when he was shot. They don't suspect anything was taken and can't understand why.

"We cannot imagine it. We are lost," said his uncle, Tejinderjit Singh.

Outpouring of emotion from the boy's grandmother who found him lying in the garage. She said he cried for help, but it was too late.

"She heard it and it was very loud and I think when she heard that, she came out and then she saw him," he said

Neighbors are just as shocked saying things like this don't happen in their North Natomas neighborhood.

"It was a young kid. We have kids to a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, so it's really sad," said a neighbor, Gil Garcia.

Police responded to the scene and investigated the area for hours asking witnesses for help, but as it turns out many people were watching the historic election and never saw who did it.

Many now are checking for surveillance footage to help his grieving family.

"It's sad. He didn't even get to live life; 17 years old," said another neighbor Mina Patel.

Gurnoor went to Inderkum High and was supposed to graduate this spring.

Police are have not determined a motive in this case and it remains under investigation.
