El Camino High Student Dies After Stabbing

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A 15-year-old high school student passed away after being stabbed earlier in November.

The suspects, still at large, stabbed the teen, along with two adults, in the Arden Arcade area just after 8 p.m. on November 12th, according to deputies.

The victims appear to be related. The two adults, a 42-year-old and 21-year-old, were released from the hospital shortly after the incident.

But 15-year-old Raul Guerra, a student at El Camino Fundamental High School died more than a week later on November 21st.

"It was a really hard moment for me to grasp, I've known him since elementary, me and him, we were kind of close," said student Jeron Johnson the week after the stabbings.

Just after the incident, the students put up a poster in the hallway where they wrote well wishes for Raul and his family.

The San Juan Unified School District released a statement days after the stabbing: "El Camino Fundamental has made counseling services available to any of our students or staff who may need support. Raul, his family and his friends are in our thoughts."

The incident happened in the loading dock just behind Goodwill off of Bell Street and Arden Way. It was walking distance from where Raul lives. Sacramento Sheriff's detectives say it involved an altercation between two groups that quickly escalated.

"There were some arguments going back and forth between two groups, at one point the arguments then turned physical, into a physical fight, and sometime during that fight, the victims were stabbed," said Sgt Tony Turnbull of the Sacramento County Sheriff's department.

What exactly happened is not yet known. Detectives say the a car was apparently doing donuts in the parking lot, and playing loud music that night, which seemed to upset a group holding a gathering at a nearby business

It's not clear how Raul got involved in the incident.

"He wasn't that kind of kid to get in trouble, he didn't deserve any of this," said fellow classmate Ciara Jones.

Detectives are asking for the public's help with any information that may lead them to the suspects involved.
